Throughout this document, “chats” refers to messages sent in the city feed, which may be visible by your friends, friends of your friends, and/or everyone in your city; and “groups” refers to closed, private spaces in which only members can send and view messages.
It's your data and always will be.
Geneva does not own your data. Members of your Geneva chats and groups do not own your data. We will never sell your data to third parties and we will never show you advertising. Our app does not use 3rd party cookies, web beacons, pixels or fingerprinting.
We don’t look at your conversations.
Your chats may be seen by your friends, friends of your friends, and/or other users in the same city as you, depending on the privacy setting you choose. We do not proactively monitor chats and only see chats that are flagged to us by users.
Your groups are your own separate spaces, and we do not monitor them. We do not see messages or any other content inside your group. We only see messages that are flagged to us by users for violating our Town Rules or Terms of Service.
We collect your location to show you chats and groups in your area.
We require that you share your physical location with us when you create an account so you can discover chats and groups around you. After you set a location, other Geneva users will be able to view the city or metropolitan area you are in, but will never be able to see your precise location. We only collect precise location if you check into an IRL event organized through Geneva that has enabled geofenced check-in.
We have a 17+ age restriction and help you find people around your age.
We require that you share your birthday with us when you create an account. Because our app is designed to connect you with new people and events in your area, we restrict access to users 17 and older. After you set a birthday, other Geneva users will be able to see your age through your profile, but will never be able to see your exact birthday. You may opt out of displaying your age in your profile.
Sharing your contacts is optional, but an important part of the experience.
